Introduction  Software  Hardware  Business/Social

Business/Social Model

Although robust hardware and software is necessary for long term data survival, it likely insufficient. We will need to focus on building the institutions and social structures necessary to insure maintainers of the hardware and software for generations. Make it important to people for the system to survive. Our strategy is to build a high quality service initially limited in size and users in order to show the world the value and feasibility of such a system.

Initial Business Model

  • Focus on providing a good service limited to 1000 users.

  • Charge users a sustaining fee (maybe $500/year?).

  • Give away our technology and let other expand to more users and other business models.

  • Build a community around the service (Wireless for Ely).

Our ultimate success would be to make ourselves unnecessary.
