Environmental Advisors to Long Now:
- John Reynolds Recently retired Regional Director, Pacific
West Region, National Park Service. John Reynolds is a second generation
NPS employee and a 31-year veteran of the agency, who was born in Yellowstone
National Park (WY, MT, ID). He served as NPS Deputy Director from August
1993 to October 1996, when he took over as General Manager of the Presidio.
Prior to becoming Deputy Director, Reynolds also served as North Atlantic
Regions's Field Director, Denver Service Center Director, North Cascades
National Park (WA) Superintendent, and Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation
Area Assistant Superintendent (CA). Before moving to Santa Monica, he led
the development of the Yosemite General Management Plan. Reynolds earned
his B.S. degree from Iowa State University (1964) and his M.S. in Landscape
Architecture from the College of Forestry at Syracuse University, N.Y.,
in 1966. John Reynolds and his wife, Bobbie, have one son, Michael.
