Below are limited edition genuine and or working items. Each comes with a signed story written by Stewart Brand or Danny Hillis that shows its context and significance in the Long Now projects and objectives. The Clock parts are working parts that we would like to entrust to you as a caretaker. We would ask that if the Clock requires one of the parts you purchase in the next 10,000 years that you help keep the Clock working by making it available.

Bit Pin Lever: (200 made)
Each lever is a fully functioning actual piece from the upcoming second prototype Clock. They are machined out of monel, one of the most corrosion resistant metals known. This is what actually holds the calculation state of the Clock. Each lever represents a one or zero that is used by the Clock's binary computer to generate the position of each dial.

Equation of Time Cam: (5 made, 0 remaining)
(Sold Out)
This three dimensional hand cast bronze cam is used in the Clock to calculate the plus or minus fiteen minute deviation of solar time to absolute time for over 10,000 years. It is an actual working piece of the first prototype.
First Prototype of Rosetta Technology: (First Run Sold Out)
We are currently testing the Norsam micro-etching process with a prototype Rosetta Disk. The disk will include all the texts in the Rosetta database as of April 15, 02001, plus general information on the Rosetta Project and Long Now Foundation. The disk will have around 7,000 text pages, including 928 Genesis translations as well as a selection of orthographies. Click here to see the page layout design for the disk.
First Edition Rosetta Disk: (5 will be made, 2 remaining)
We are creating a limited edition run of 25 Version 1.0 Rosetta Disks and Containers, which we are offering in exchange for donations of $25,000 and above. Proceeds will support our global collection efforts to build the 1,000 language archive and complete the disk. The delivery date is the summer of 2003. You can see the design for the disk and container in the "about this project" part of our site under "concept" and "design". Contact jimmason@longnow.org if you are interested in supporting the Rosetta Project through this donation.

If you have questions please email Simone services@longnow.org or call 415.561.6582.

The Long Now Foundation is a nonprofit organization (501c3) that relies on private gifts and grants to fund its projects and programs. This online store was made possible by a gift from Ryan Phelan in the hope that Long Now could eventually become self funding. It is also possible to make a fully tax deductible donation in our Contribution section.
